Company Secretary

The company secretary is an officer every Hong Kong company must appoint to handle its statutory compliance and record-keeping.

Under the Companies Ordinance, every Hong Kong company must have a company secretary who is either a Hong Kong resident individual or a body corporate with a registered office or place of business in Hong Kong. The secretary maintains the company's statutory registers, files returns with the Companies Registry, and helps ensure the company meets its legal obligations. A sole director of a private company cannot also be the company secretary.
